there is a tag attached to this ring that says, "STERLING SILVER OVAL GEN AMETHYST SOLITIARE RING" on one side, and, "CAR ZRAM 08 MADE IN CHINA" on the other side. i looked what was engraved inside of the ring and i made out what i think is 935, but i'm not certain, it was too small to tell. also, the Gem Stone is purple.

Well the tag tells you one thing - it is supposed to be a sterling silver ring with a genuine oval amethyst ring. If you believe there is a real value - take it to a jewelry store and they will help you decide it the stone is real (amethyst has varying shades of purple) and sterling silver has a carat value - the tag means nothing to the value.
It may be a novelty item - but you cannot be sure without help.
